Chinese granite is sold through geological descriptions, trade names, color families and G-numbers. These naming systems overlap, and the same label may be used differently across suppliers or regions.
Identify more than a name
Ask for the trade name, any G-number, quarry location, factory location and recent sample references separately. A processing center is not necessarily the geological origin.
Approve natural variation
Granite varies by quarry area and production lot. Review a representative range rather than one idealized small sample, and define which visual characteristics are acceptable.
Specify the surface
Polished, honed, flamed and bush-hammered finishes change color expression, texture and suitability. Confirm the finish on the project stone and under relevant lighting.
Put acceptance rules in writing
Record dimensions, tolerances, edge work, finish reference, testing basis, packaging and inspection checkpoints. Do not rely on a material name alone.
