A finish changes how granite looks, feels and performs. The same stone can appear darker and more saturated when polished or lighter and more open when textured.
Polished
Polishing creates a reflective surface and usually deepens color. Review glare, scratching visibility and slip requirements for the intended location.
Honed
Honing produces a smoother low-sheen surface. The exact degree of honing should be controlled with an approved sample.
Flamed and textured finishes
Thermal and mechanical treatments create texture for exterior paving, steps or landscape work. Texture depth, edge condition and thickness need clear acceptance criteria.
Specify by sample
Finish names are not complete specifications. Approve a physical sample, record the production method and compare production pieces under consistent conditions.
